Privacy policy
Short version: the software doesn’t track you. There is no analytics, no telemetry, and no account. The sections below say exactly what does happen, so you can check rather than trust.
What the software sends
Forge Tweaks makes one kind of outbound connection: downloading updates and the FrameForge installer. It contains no analytics or telemetry code of any kind. Your benchmark results, your list of applied tweaks, and your hardware details stay on your machine, in files you can open and delete.
FrameForge makes no outbound connections at all while you play. Its licence check runs entirely offline against a file on your disk.
Your machine ID
Licences are tied to one PC, which requires something to identify that PC. The software derives a 16-character machine ID from your hardware and hashes it locally. The hash is what leaves your computer; the underlying hardware details do not, and the hash cannot be reversed back into them.
It is used for one thing — issuing and validating your licence — and it is not linked to advertising, profiling, or anything else.
Activation, and when the software talks to a server
- Once, at activation. Your licence key and machine ID are exchanged for a licence file. After that, a lifetime licence never contacts anything again.
- Periodically, on monthly plans only. The software re-checks that the subscription is still active. This sends the licence key and machine ID and nothing else.
- When you check for updates. A normal download request, which necessarily reveals your IP address to the host, as any download does.
What we hold, and why
When you buy something, we end up holding:
- Your email address and order details — to deliver your licence and support you.
- Your machine ID — to issue and validate that licence.
- Any emails you send us — because that is how a conversation works.
We do not receive or store your card details at any point. Payment is handled by Gumroad as merchant of record, under their own privacy policy.
We keep order and licence records for as long as the licence is valid, and afterwards for as long as tax law requires us to keep records of sales.
Who else sees it
Our payment provider, and our email provider. That is the list. We do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising, and there is no third-party tracking on this website.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email support@forgetweaks.com. Deleting your licence record will invalidate your licence, so we will check that is what you want first.
If you are in Australia and you think we have mishandled your personal information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. If you are in the UK or EU, you have equivalent rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR, including the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
The software is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we change what the software collects, this page changes with it and the date at the top updates. We will not quietly start collecting something and leave this page as it was.
